Structure

One tablet of drug contains 25 mg or 10 mg of Baclofenum as active agent.

Excipients: lactose, gelatin, potato starch, magnesium stearate, talc, ethyl cellulose.

Release form

Baklosan represents biconvex, round, with a dividing strip white tablets. 50 such tablets in a polypropylene can, one such can in a paper pack.

Pharmacological action

Myorelaxation and anti-spastic effects are characteristic of drug.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Pharmacodynamics

Baklosan treats muscle relaxants of the central action; GABAB receptors inhibitor. Lowers excitability of distal departments of the sensitive fibers bringing nervous impulses and oppresses intermediate cells of a nervous system. Oppression of a synoptic momentum transfer results; undervoltage of muscle fibers. Drug does not influence transfer of nervous impulses in muscular and nervous synapses.

At the diseases which are characterized by pathological constant contractility of skeletal muscles medicine Baklosan facilitates spasms and cricks. Drug increases amplitude of movements in joints, simplifies carrying out a kinesitherapy (massage, gymnastics, manual therapy).

Pharmacokinetics

After reception of a tablet of Baklosan are adsorbed in intestines of high degree. The maximum concentration in blood is observed in three hours after drug use.

Linkng with proteins of plasma reaches 30%. Drug gets through a placental barrier, is removed with breast milk. The metabolism occurs in a liver. It is allocated with urine in an original form.

Indications to use

Drug is used in connection with increase in a tone of muscles at:

  • pathologies of a spinal cord (tumor, injuries, myelosyringosis, diseases of motor neurons);
  • multiple sclerosis;
  • cerebral palsy;
  • cerebrovascular diseases;
  • meningitis;
  • head injuries.

Contraindications

Contraindications to Baklosan's use are:

Baklosan with care use at insufficiency of blood supply of a brain, atherosclerosis of cerebral vessels, a renal failure, at elderly people and children is younger than three years.

Side effects

  • From the musculoskeletal device: mialgiya.
  • From a nervous system: weakness, dizziness, gait disturbance, sleeplessness, sedation, depression, euphoria, adynamy, tremor, hallucinations, nightmares, nystagmus, paresthesias, dysarthtia.
  • From respiratory system: respiratory depression.
  • From cardiovascular system: reduction of cordial emission, hypotension.
  • From organs of sight: visual disturbances.
  • From system of digestion: diarrhea, lock, dyspepsia, nausea, abdominal pains, damage of a liver.
  • From urinogenital system: enuresis, a polyuria, an ischuria, sometimes — erectile dysfunction.
  • From skin: hyperhidrosis.
  • General disturbances: fall of temperature.

In extremely exceptional cases increase in spasms came to light that was estimated as a paradoxical effect from administration of drug.

Application instruction of Baklosan (Way and dosage)

The application instruction of Baklosan recommends to accept drug orally together with food. If one administration of drug was by mistake missed, next time it is not necessary to use a double dose.

Adults

Starting dose — 5 mg (a half of a tablet of 10 mg) three times a day, with increase in a dose by 5 mg every three days and so before medical effect (as a rule, 30-75 mg a day there are enough). The maximum day dose – 100 mg.

The final dose should not lower a tone of muscles, lead to the expressed myasthenia or worsen motor functions.

At a renal failure or during a hemodialysis a day dose – 5 mg.

At persons 65 years a dose are more senior it is necessary to raise with care as at them the risk of development of by-effects is high.

Children

Starting dose — 5 mg three times a day. If it is necessary a dose it is possible to increase every three days by 5 mg the medical effect will not appear yet.

The recommended doses: for children age of 3-6 years – 20-30 mg/days; 6-10 years – 30-60 mg/days; 10 years a limit day dose – 2.5 mg/kg of weight, a starting dose – 1.5-2 mg/kg of weight are more senior.

Drug withdrawal is made slowly (within 10-14 days).

Overdose by Baklosan

Overdose symptoms: respiratory depression, hypomyotonia, coma, confusion of consciousness.

Treatment: the plentiful use of liquid, use of diuretics, at oppression of respiratory function – artificial ventilation of the lungs. The antidote is unknown.

Interaction

At combined use Baklosan activates effect of the medicines influencing a nervous system, lowering pressure, anti-gouty means, alcohol.

At a concomitant use of Baklosan with tricyclic antidepressants develops the expressed lowering of a muscle tone.

It is not necessary to accept Baklosan with karbidopy and a levodopa as confusion of consciousness and a hallucination can appear.
