And whether you know...
Iridocyclitis
The iridocyclitis (from Greek iridos – an iris, kykios – an eye) – a disease at which the iris of the eye and a ciliary body inflames or is surprised part of front department of a vascular path of an eye. The illness meets at people of young age more often, since 20 flyings and can affect both or one eye.
At the isolated defeat of an iris the iritis is diagnosed and if the inflammation captured only a ciliary body, then it is a cyclitis. However usually the inflammation covers both structures.
Allocate the endogenous iridocyclites resulting from entering in fabric of an iris and ciliary body of a contagium – viruses, bacteria, fungi, chlamydias or toxins in fabric. Exogenous iridocyclites are shown as complication of various inflammatory diseases of a cornea, and also as a result of the getting damage of an eyeglobe.
Allocate the following types of iridocyclites:
- infectious;
- allergic (infectious and noninfectious);
- posttraumatic and postoperative;
- at general diseases.
On the course of a disease, the iridocyclitis happens acute, subacute and chronic. On character of an inflammation serous, exudative, purulent, fibrinous and plastic and hemorrhagic divide iridocyclites. All of them have various clinical picture depending on the reasons which caused a disease.
Various infectious diseases of an organism – flu, tuberculosis, syphilis, herpes, leptospirosis, gonorrhea, and also injuries of an eye, operation on an eyeglobe are basic reasons of iridocyclites. The centers of persistent infection can sometimes be the cause of an iridocyclitis at diseases of bosoms of a nose, almonds, jaws. In such cases prevention of an iridocyclitis is necessary. The disease can arise also at general diseases of an organism, such as rheumatism, a sarcoidosis, a diabetes mellitus. Such iridocyclites call endogenous.
However more often the iridocyclitis can arise owing to penetration into an iris of the eye of an eye and a sclera of viruses, bacteria, mushrooms, and also as a result of any inflammatory diseases of eyes (an exogenous iridocyclitis). It is promoted by the developed vascular grid in an iris and a ciliary body that favors to development in them harmful microorganisms. Provocative factors are also injuries, overcooling, excessive exercise stresses, stresses.
Iridocyclitis symptoms
In medical practice allocate the following symptoms of an iridocyclitis:
- eye pain and in temporal area;
- photophobia;
- dacryagogue;
- reddening of an eyeglobe;
- visual acuity decreases;
- the pupil (miosis) is narrowed, it can become irregular shape;
- change of drawing and color of an iris of the eye, drawing as if "smoothes out";
- opacity of the vitreous body;
- in an anterior chamber of an eye there can be an exudate which accumulates in the form of a half moon or a strip with gray or yellow contents;
- in the presence of exudate commissures (back synechias) can form;
- changes of intraocular pressure.
At emergence of similar symptoms it is necessary to see at once a doctor, timely diagnosis of an iridocyclitis and an initiation of treatment it is capable to cure it without complications.
Diagnosis of an iridocyclitis
Diagnosis of an iridocyclitis is based on complex inspection, survey of an eyeglobe (biomicroscopy) and clarifications of complaints of the patient. Ophthalmologic and immunological stationary inspection, the general blood test, a X-ray of adnexal bosoms of a nose, survey of the stomatologist, endocrinologist, allergist and otorhinolaryngologist is appointed.
Treatment of an iridocyclitis
If you revealed at yourself iridocyclitis symptoms, it is necessary to see a doctor as soon as possible. Treatment of a disease – complex, carried out in a hospital. Own treatment of an iridocyclitis influences inflammatory processes in an iris and a ciliary body, and also on immunity of the patient.
Treatment usually begins with drugs which expand a pupil and promote removal of a pain syndrome and prevent development of commissures. Antibiotics of a broad spectrum of activity and antiinflammatory drugs are a part a drop (indometacin, Brufenum, etc.). Medicines can be also administered subkonjyunktivalno, i.e. in the form of pricks under mucous an eyeglobe, and also in the form of tablets both intravenously and intramusculary. Also the specific therapy appointed depending on causes of illness is carried out.
In cases of complication of an iridocyclitis immunomodulators and cytostatics are applied. In the form of physiotherapeutic procedures the electrophoresis with antibiotics, adrenaline and other substances is carried out. With the increased intraocular pressure at an iridocyclitis also diuretic drugs are appointed. Treatment of an iridocyclitis continues up to disappearance of a choroid of an eye.
Prevention of an iridocyclitis
Prevention of a disease consists in timely treatment of various diseases, and also elimination of the inflammatory centers in an organism. Important also at emergence of symptoms of a disease at once to see a doctor and not to self-medicate.
Complications of an iridocyclitis
It is possible to refer distribution of an inflammation on a cornea, a retina and an optic nerve to possible complications of an iridocyclitis. Perhaps also fusion of a pupil, inflammation of an optic nerve, amotio of a retina, eyeglobe atrophy, blindness. However at timely treatment the forecast favorable.
