And whether you know...
Medicinal allergy
In essence the medicinal allergy is negative reaction of a human body to any drugs or substances which are contained in the taken medicine. Basic reasons of a medicinal allergy it is immune system which interferes with the administered drug.
Besides the allergy can be caused owing to the wrong dosage of the accepted drug. Allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and still a number of allergic reactions which were stimulated by drugs can be the visible certificate of a similar allergy.
Before display of an allergy to any medicine in an organism there takes place process of a sensitization which is only primary contact of immune system, and the administered drug, most often without causing any unpleasant effects.
Only if administration of drug does not stop, symptoms of a medicinal allergy will begin to be shown. Everything will depend only on what drug is administered. Various drugs can influence an organism differently. Here approach is absolutely individual as each separately taken person has biological features on which nature of allergic reaction depends, and also what treatment of a medicinal allergy will be the most effective.
Many modern drugs are capable to cause allergic reaction. And it can be shown absolutely differently. It is known that the medicinal allergy can develop in two cases.
The first is the allergic reaction caused owing to long impact of the accepted drug on an organism, is called at the patient to whom the drug is administered intramusculary, or intravenously (under these circumstances the allergy and is shown). In these cases the acute anaphylaxis at the patient is more probable. It represents very sharp deterioration in indicators of health at the one to whom enter allergen if in time not to interfere, the lethal outcome is possible.
The second type is a chronic allergy, very often it happens to people who do not accept drug, but regularly enter to someone therefore anyway, but they have a daily contact with substance. This type is characteristic of people which work in the field of medicine, at the same time they can receive the certificate of non-constant, or full disability. Here the acute and chronic small tortoiseshell is more probable. Urticaria consists in blistering, and display of an itch and reddenings on skin. Acute urticaria lasts of couple of days to two weeks. Chronic several weeks, months, in extremely exceptional cases — flying can last.
In addition to these symptoms of an allergy, also the Quincke's edema (Quincke's disease) can appear. Its symptoms are similar to symptoms of the small tortoiseshell, however differ in depth of the manifestation. For example, if the small tortoiseshell is shown only on a skin surface, then in case of a Quincke's edema process happens in depth, not only causing a screaming itch, but also causing hypostasis (owing to what the name went). It is shown most often in areas of skin which I possess a friable retina (lips, eyelids, cheeks, etc.). The Quincke's edema lasts several hours (in rare instances no more than 3 days). However its development is not excluded, and the fact that it will drag on for several days, urgent hospitalization is in that case necessary.
Prevention and treatment of a medicinal allergy first of all means identification of allergen among substances which are entered, or to which there is a contact. In especially hard cases it is necessary to enter antibodies which normalize work of an organism and stabilize a condition of the patient.
