Structure

Menthol solution (synthetic or natural) in a liquid paraffin.

In 1000 Solutio oleosa of left menthol of 10 g or 20 g, oil of vaseline 990/980 g.

Release form

Solutio oleosa of 1% or 2% in glass bottles of 10 ml and 25 ml for topical administration and inhalations.

Pharmacodynamics

Local irritative means which when drawing has antimicrobic, antiinflammatory effect on skin and reduces an itch. The distracting effect is followed by a cryesthesia and elimination of pain. The cryesthesia passes into feeling of not expressed burning and a pricking.

The irritation of receptors of skin or mucous stimulates release of biologically active agents which participate in regulation of pain. Pharmacokinetics

Indications to use

  • respiratory diseases (in the form of inhalations at laryngitis, tracheitis or greasings of a nasopharynx at pharyngitis);
  • rhinitises (an instillation in a nose);
  • neuralgia, mialgiya, pruritic dermatosis, arthralgia (as soothing, revulsive).

Contraindications

  • bronchial asthma;
  • individual intolerance of drug;
  • pregnancy and period of feeding by a breast;
  • age till 3 flyings (the instillation of oil or greasing of a nasopharynx causes risk of reflex respiratory depression and an apnoea).

Side effects

  • rash, itch, contact dermatitis;
  • reflex respiratory depression, collapse (at children at intranasal use);
  • decrease in the ABP, weakness, dizziness;
  • nausea, abdominal pain (at intake).

Menthol oil, application instruction (Way and dosage)

It is applied outwardly.

At cold dig in on 5 drops in both nasal courses 2-3 times a day, each 2 h pound a nose bridge and wings of a nose. After procedures the feeling of a congestion of a nose disappears.

At mialgiya, miozita, neuralgia apply in the form of grindings.

At respiratory diseases carry out steam inhalations: 15 drops on 200 ml of hot water. Inhalation is carried out for 10 min. 2-3 times a day. At cough apply compresses on a thorax, grindings or massages for the night.

Menthol hair oil is applied. At regular use of masks growth of hair as oil stimulates blood circulation in a consequence of what amplifies roots of hair become stronger and growth of hair improves. Reduces products of sebaceous glands, eliminates dandruff, an itch and irritation. At its use hair look healthy, gloss appears. Oil can be added to shampoo for daily use on 3 drops for the portion or to do masks for hair. At fat skin of pilar part of the head and an oily hair take 2 yolks, 1 teaspoon of juice of a lemon and 4 drops of oil. The structure is rubbed in roots of hair, maintained 15 minutes and washed away. For rinsings of hair use essential menthol oil to avoid a greasy luster and weighting of hair — on 1 l of water add 5 drops.

Overdose

Overdose is shown by strengthening of side reactions. Treatment: drug withdrawal, symptomatic treatment.
