Structure

Benzoate and 20% solution of a hlorgeksidin of a digluconate as the operating component, and also carbomer 940, edetat dinatrium, propylene glycol, sodium saccharinate, sodium hydroxide, left menthol, water is a part of HP metronidazole.

Release form

Means is issued in the form of gel. Gel – soft, opalescent, white or almost white. Contains in tubas from plastic on 5, 10, 20 g.

Pharmacological action

Gel Metrogil Denta is an antimicrobic drug, its action is caused by two antibacterial components.

Substance metronidazole has antibacterial effect in relation to anaerobic bacteria which provoke development of diseases of a parodont. It is Fusobacterium fusiformis, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Wolinella recta, Prevotella intermedia, Eikenella corrodens, Selenomonas spp., Borrelia vincenti.

Substance hlorgeksidin has antimicrobic and antiseptic effect. Affects gram-positive and gram-negative anaerobic and aerobic bacteria. Weak sensitivity to a hlorgeksidin is shown by separate strains of Proteus spp., Pseudomonas spp. Disputes of bacteria, acid resisting forms of bacteria are steady against substance. When using a hlorgeksidin functional activity of lactobacilli is not broken.

Metrogil Denta is almost not absorbed at use locally.

Indications to use

In the instruction such indications to use Metrogil Denta are specified:

• ulcer and necrotic ulitis of Vensan in an acute form;
• ulitis acute and chronic;
• periodontal disease acute and chronic;
• periodontosis which is complicated by an ulitis;
• youthful periodontal disease;
• stomatitis is aphthous;
• inflammatory process of a mucous oral cavity owing to carrying prostheses;
• cheilitis;
• alveolitis post-extraction (inflammatory process of a hole after tooth was extracted);
• periodontal abscess, periodontitis (in the combined treatment).

Contraindications

Dental gel Metrogil Denta cannot be accepted in such cases:

• at intolerance of components;
• at intolerance of derivatives of a nitroimidazole;
• aged till 6 flyings.

Side effects

If to apply ointment locally, as negative effects allergic manifestations in the form of urticaria, an itch, rash can develop, headaches can be also noted.

Overdose

Interaction

At use along with Disulfiramum the level of toxicity of both drugs increases. At use along with Phenobarbital and Phenytoinum efficiency of metronidazole goes down.
